LEGENDS OF THE FALL SOUNDTRACK
November 6th, 2007Legends of the Fall soundtrack is another epic score by James Horner, composer of the Legends of the Fall Soundtrack. It’s orchestral, it’s traditional, it’s epic, and it’s all in all a great dramatic score. Legends of the Fall is basically every composer’s dream project. It’s a historical drama that gives any composer a chance to show their skill, and James Horner dove in headfirst. What else would you expect from the guy that would eventually go on to score other epic films such as Braveheart and Titanic? Horner worked with the London Symphony Orchestra to create a score that would capture the romance, tragedy and familial turmoil of the film’s story. Horner’s score also sets the tone for the breathtaking Montana landscape where most of the film takes place. The score for the Ludlows, the family featured in the film, remains the same with some variations, except for the character Tristan, whose score is a bit more forceful due to his rebellious nature. The score is appropriate for every character and every scene, and most reviewers would agree, that although the film was largely overlooked during its release, the score holds it own. The official soundtrack includes the following songs: Legends Of The Fall, The Ludlows, Off To War, To The Boys, Samuel’s Death, Alfred Moves To Helena, Farewell/Descent Into Madness, The Changing Seasons/ Wild Horses/ Tristan’s Return, The Wedding, Isabel’s Murder/ Recollections of Samuel, Revenge, Goodbyes, Alfred/ Tristan/ The Colonel/ The Legend. The soundtrack is available on iTunes, Amazon.com and most other online music retailers.
